About the Author
Richard Grudens is the author of the award -winning Bing Crosby-Crooner of the Century, Chattanooga Choo Choo-The Life and Times of the world famous Glenn Miller Orchestra, Jerry Vale-A Singer's Life, The Spirit of Bob Hope, and six other books on the subject of the Big Band Era and associated material. From Kathryn Crosby:"Richard Grudens is the musical historian of our time. Without him, the magic would be lost forever. We all owe him a debt that we can never repay." Richard Grudens was initially influenced by Pulitzer Prize dramatist Robert Anderson and detective novelist Dashiell Hammett, both whom he knew in his early days working at NBC Guest Relations and as news writer for radio news shows and the Bob and Ray and early Today show. He is the author of hundreds of magazine articles dealing with many subjects.

Don't read this book on an empty stomach

Richard Grudens can't be beat. Reading this book is similar to sitting down to an Italian meal; it leaves you wanting more. Grudens tells the highlights of the many Italian-American singers so prevalent in the 20th century. Here you will read about Alan Dale, Frankie Laine, Russ Columbo, Jimmy Roselli, Louis Prima, etc. The stories are great, and mouth-watering recipes are included as well. I almost wish he had included the later Italian singers such as Bobby Rydell, Bobby Darin, James Darren, Dion DiMucci, Frankie Valli, fabian, and Frankie Avalon. I hope he does.

Very disappointed

I was greatly excited when I received the book and couldn't wait to start reading it. However, I was very disappointed because the book mainly contained a bibliography of the great Italian singers. There was very little information on their personal life and background. I realize there was a limit on space but I could have gotten the bibliography from searding on Google. I loved those crooners and would have liked to know more of their background and not the names of their songs or albums. Therefore, I would not recommend this book to anyone.
